Barnstable hopes to offer green burials soon
COTUIT — Mosswood Cemetery off Putnam Avenue has a new burial area that looks completely different than the rest of the 24 acres. There’s a feel of a natural meadow, shaped in a semicircle, with a wooded backdrop.
The uncut grass, the new native plantings of sumac and pussy willows, the start of the woodchip road around the site, the natural stone grave site markers and plans for more pollinating plants to attract bees are there for a reason.
