Green Burial – The Earth Friendly Option

Find out if green burial is the right choice for you. Whether you are actively considering having a green burial or are just curious about how it is done, you are invited to attend Green Burial – The Earth Friendly Option. The free program will be sponsored by the Centerville Public Library, 585 Main Street, Centerville MA on Friday, January 9, 2026 at 11:00 am.

Topics to be covered include what is green burial? How does green burial compare with conventional burial? What can I do if my local cemetery doesn’t allow green burial? Answers to these questions and more will be covered, and there will be time for questions of your own.

The program will be presented by Sophia Sayigh. Sophia was drawn to the idea of returning to the earth as naturally as possible as soon as she found out about it fifteen years ago and immediately organized a well-attended GBM information night at her local library to spread the word. She is glad to be part of making green burial an option for anyone who desires it. A former librarian and lay breastfeeding counselor, she is a member of the Brewster Cemetery Commission.
