January 11, 2026 at 1:00 PM
Northampton, MA (In-person)

Description:

Find out if green burial is the right choice for you. Whether you are actively considering having a green burial or are just curious about how it is done, you are invited to attend Green Burial – The Earth Friendly Option.

Topics to be covered include “What is green burial?” “How does green burial compare with conventional burial?” “What can I do if my local cemetery doesn’t allow green burial?” Answers to these questions and more will be covered, and there will be time for questions of your own.

The program will be presented by Alex Tinari. Alex is a green burial and home funeral advocate. She volunteers with Green Burial Massachusetts where she helps educate the public about green burial. She is a certified Death Midwife through Earth Traditions, has trained with Ann-Elizabeth Barnes of Sacred Undertaking, and supports people through all stages of the dying process. Alex is board secretary for the Funeral Consumers Alliance of Western Massachusetts, a non-profit volunteer-run organization that educates the public about end-of-life issues and funeral and disposition choices. In Vermont, Alex is a burial steward at Vermont Forest Cemetery. Her full-time work is Admissions and Enrollment Director at J.S. Bryant School, the nation’s first therapeutic high school for LGBTQIA+ teens. She lives in Plainfield with her partner, two teens, and a menagerie of animal friends.

Admission is free, but preregistration is required. Space is limited and spots are allotted on a first come, first served basis.
